ENCOUNTERS (2008- PRESENT)
Encounters is an evolving performance work for solo saxophone and taped voices. The voices are a spatially organised collection of sound bites drawn from a collection of over 30 artists with whom Roche has hosted recorded conversational encounters on the theme of 'creative impulse' and 'childhood'. The work, commenced in 2008, continue's to evolve, spinning a thread of increasing singularity, binding craft people, dancers, sculptors, musicians, writers and actors into an invisible 3D sound world of contrasting occupational sounds, disembodied voices and choreographed saxophone sound tapestries. For this 55 minute Immersive work, the artist installs a 30-speaker array for each performance.
Binaural mix (surround sound), please use headphones.
